Hakuba is an extensive ski area located on the mainland of Japan and was host to the Winter Olympics in 1998. Widely recognised internationally due to the shear scale of terrain, vertical rise and abundant snowfalls.
HAKUBA ski area is located amongst the Japanese Alps, west of Tokyo in the Nagano prefecture. Having played host to the 1998 Winter Olympics, Hakuba is one of the largest and most respected resorts in Japan.

Considering Hakuba this ski season? Keep up to date with the latest weather and snow forecasts.
Hakuba is an expansive area with several villages, each with its own characteristics and charm. Free ski shuttle buses run between the resorts and around the accommodation hubs.
While there is an increasing number of western style accommodation, the villages of Hakuba offer more traditional, Japanese Hotels, lodges and authentic accommodation.
Happo Village is the main village with a great range of accommodation, restaurants, cafes, shops, the main bus terminal and train station. Most accommodation is just a short walk from the lift base. Lower Wadano is walking distance from Happo Village. It is great for beginners as it close to the ski school and beginner slopes. The Upper Wadano area has a good range of ski-in/ski-out accommodation although it is further away from the services and facilities of Happo Village. Echoland is known to have a bit more nightlife but is remote. It offers a range of accommodation and a shuttle to get to the lift base.
Hakuba offers a great range of restaurants with varied cuisine. If eating outside of the hotel restaurants, bookings are recommended during the peak periods. There are number of pubs and bars with Echoland being host to most.
