Furano is located on Hokkaido, north of Sapporo City . Furano combines some of the steepest and longest runs in Hokkaido with two interconnected ski areas, Furano and Kitanomine. The thriving township of Furano is only minutes from the ski area.
Furano is a large ski resort in close proximity to the local Furano township offering a fusion of authentic, traditional Japanese culture. Due to its central Hokkaido location it is renowned for reliably cold weather patterns producing over 8 metres of powder snow annually and more blue bird days than many other resorts in Hokkaido.
Furano combines some of the steepest and longest runs in Hokkaido with two interconnected ski areas, Furano and Kitanomine. Furano Ski Resort has hosted the FIS Ski World Cup and the Snowboarding World Cup. With its wide variety of terrain and English-speaking ski schools it is perfect for the entire family. The ski areas gate system offers access to the side country from the resort, out of the resort boundaries.
Furano is uncrowded, charming and a genuine ski town. With the choice of Kitanomine Village, at the base of the ski lifts and the town of Furano, a taxi ride away, there are plenty of dining and shopping options to suit all tastes. Furano is the ideal base for day trip options to other nearby ski areas including Tomamu and Kamui Ski Links

* A lift pass exchange system is in place where you can swap your Furano day pass for either Kamui Ski Links or Tomamu.
Guests are required to go to the Kitanomine ticket office, or Furano Ropeway ticket office and obtain an exchange voucher before going to Kamui or Tomamu the day before or on the morning of the day. This exchange voucher is then to be presented at the ticket office at Kamui / Tomamu in exchange for a lift pass.
Transfer costs apply. For shuttle bus timetable and operational information please check at the Furano Tourism office (located at the Kitanomine Gondola).
Note: The Tomamu/Kamui lift pass exchange program does not apply to Furano Ski Area child lift tickets (12 years & under ski free). Children would need to purchase a child lift ticket at Tomamu/Kamui
Furano offers a true ski town vibe. It combines the ski village and the nearby town of Furano. Accommodation is at an abundance featuring western style hotels, apartments, pensions and an increasing number of luxury accommodation.
In downtown Furano, you’ll find the best range of restaurants. Most hotels in ski villages of Kitanomine and Furano have an onsite restaurant, otherwise these areas are limited. Furano does offer a degree of nightlife with a number of bars between Furano Town and the ski area village. While there are plenty of souvenir shops, there is not a great deal of ski shops.
Family Snowland is where it is at for families offering snow rafting, snowmobiling, snow banana boat, snow shoeing, air bounce, ice fishing and hot air ballooning. If that is not enough there is the Snow Night Fantasy, a village of snow and ice set in an enchanted forest.
Japan is traditionally a cash society. In Furano, the large hotels and restaurants will accept credit cards however many of the smaller venues still only accept cash. You can find international ATMs at the 7-Eleven Kitanomine, New Furano Prince Hotel and Furano Marche in Furano town however, it is advisable to take cash with you.
