Myoko Kogen Ski Resort is located one hour north of Nagano in the Niigata prefecture on the mainland of Japan. Myoko receives an abundance of quality snow due to its proximity to the coast and the Sea of Japan.
Myoko Kogen Ski Resort is made up of a group of ski areas, which can be all accessed by shuttle bus. Akakura Kanko and Akakura Onsen are the main ski areas, linked by lifts. The quaint ski village of Myoko Kogen is situated at the very base of Kanko and Onsen ski areas which house the majority of accommodation.
Up the valley you can also ski Myoko Suginohara and Ikenotaira for the day by taking a shuttle (an each way fee is paid on usage). Suginohara has the longest ski run in all of Japan at a leg burning 8.5 Klm.
The Myoko area receives up to 13+ metres of quality snow on a good season, the terrain suits beginners through to advance skiers. Myoko Kogen’s ski village offers excellent English speaking ski schools, good rental facilities, a variety of restaurants and bars.
