Kougakuro Hotel
Located near the base of the Akakura Onsen ski resort, Kougakuro (also spelt Kogakuro) is a Japanese-style ryokan offering a traditional hot spring and a Japanese-style vacation experience. Kougakuro is more than just a Japanese ryokan, it offers a traditional hot spring (onsen) and unlike most ryokans, it has bar and lounge area with cosy fireplace, providing the ideal spot for après ski. The hot spring is separated into men’s and women’s with an indoor and outdoor bath. Other facilities include a small gift shop, vending machines, drying room, laundry facilities, ski storage and WiFi throughout the hotel. A hearty western style buffet breakfast is included. Dinner is also available at property.
Rooms
Most rooms are Japanese style rooms with tatami flooring, futon bedding on the floor and table and seats on the floor. All rooms include at TV (Japanese channels), tea making facilities, a toilet and wash basin. Some rooms have private showers with all guests having access to the public bathhouse. A twin-bedded room with western bedding is also available.
Location
Set in a great location at the top of Akakura Onsen village of Myoko Kogen. The ski area is a short walk away as are many popular restaurants. The Myoko train station is about a 10-15 minute drive away.
