Wanaka is located towards the bottom of New Zealand’s South Island, 428km from Christchurch and 71 km from Queenstown.
Wanaka is an exiting town overlooking a spectacular lake and offers some of the most impressive mountain scenery in New Zealand. It is one of the two main accommodation centres in the Southern Lakes District. From Wanaka you can ski or board at Cardrona or Treble Cone. Plus you can go to the Snow Farm for Nordic skiing or the Snow Park for the freestyle Terrain Park. Wanaka is an access point to some of the best heli-skiing in New Zealand; Harris Mountain heli-skiing.
