Deep Powder Tours Team

Dale Goulding
The ideas man of DPT operations. With over 30 years of skiing experience in St Anton Austria, Val'D'Isere in France, heli skiing in the Harris Mountains of New Zealand, and 16 consecutive seasons in Hokkaido Japan, there are few to match his breadth of experience and the magnitude of his accumulated knowledge. Additional expertise as a professional photographer which manifest in contributions to the majority of Australian ski magazines dating back to 1995 now stands as a testament to what Niseko has offered during this period. In 1994 he completed Perisher Ski School's Instructor Clinic and also spent time with the Australian Volunteer Ski Patrol (A.S.P.A).

Glenn Goulding
Doing what he does best, skiing and talkin' it up with the locals and guests, G san, epitomizes the very essence of DPT. With 30 years skiing experience across North America, Australia, New Zealand and Japan, he returns to Niseko for his 17th consecutive season. Possessing an encyclopedic knowledge of the local areas, townships and properties, with endless stories about owners past and present, there's nothing that's escaped his observance these past decades. Whether he's driving through Hirafu, Shopping in K town, drinking in the bars, or dining in the restaurants, there is hardly a person who doesn't know him, he's the face of DPT.

Peter Hunter
P-Chan, ensconsed deeply within the nerve centre of DPT operations, provides technical expertise born of 20 years experience in television production. With boundless energy, the multi tasking chops of a circus juggler, and that rare genealogical trait allowing him to operate at full capacity on minimal sleep, he's the nucleus of the DPT cell. Add to that decades of skiing experience in Japan and Australia, and a pathological love for chocolate coated almonds, and P Chan has been annointed as DPT operational guru in chief.

Caitlin
Caitlin arrived in Japan last year and never left. In the intervening year she has metamorphosed into the Japanese version of herself. An experienced boarder and skier, possessing excellent Japanese skills, man management prowess, and a great working knowledge of Niseko area, not to mention culinary expertise (oh that cheesecake!). As manager, another perfect fit into the DPT schema.

Jaymes
Attended university in San Francisco via an athletic scholarship and studied Japanese, psychology, philosophy and polictical science. Has 15 years experience in language instruction and course design and as a one time Japanese tutor for Dale and Glenn, and an old school shire devotee, all prerequisites seem in place for an effortless transition into the DPT framework. Jaymes joins the DPT crew as Niseko manager, cultural liaison, and resident phraseologist........and is making the transition to boarding from…..er, track and field.

Jess
As DPT's in-house scientist, Jess san juggles multifarious roles: gomi guru, stationary queen, all terrain skier extraordinaire etc etc.....
She has a predilection for octopus balls (the edible type), custard fish (you tell me??), synapses, transcortical reflexes, and the limbic system....
With many years of skiing experience in Australia and North America, and almost as many at Sydney University, Jess san is another welcome addtion to the DPT team.

Steph
Steph san jetted into town in a whirlwind of action, jokes and colour, sporting a psychedelic technicolour polka dotted ski suit that is the perfect metaphor for her personality. In her fourth year with DPT in Niseko she holds down disparate roles such as documentary film maker, Haruka’s mother hen, and mountain orientation guide. Steph san can never be accused of succumbing to the ennui of daily existence and adds that je ne se quois to the DPT family.

Iilya
Russian IT superman and high tech wizard 'ill grill" is the man in whose hands our electronic destiny lies. Relaxing in onsens, boarding and scoping out escape routes from all forms of study are his primary objectives whilst in Hokkaido. All successful operations presuppose a heavy hitter at the IT control panel and DPT is happy to have 'ill grill' step up into this role.

Debbie
Representing England, Deb Chan is a board sport naturalist, whether on the surf, snow, chess, or skateboard. In her 4th season on the snowboard she puts most men to shame sporting the refined skills of a virtuoso. The first on the hill and the last down (has been known to sneak in 3 runs before her 9am starts at work), with Japanese skills and her own interminable extroverted character, debs brings inexaustible momentum to the DPT stable.
note: Has been linked to a certain DPT staff member

Michael
Michael aka 'jimmy' has a degree in civil engineering which may explain his occasionally spontaneous spade work celebrations, but as one half of the DPT airport crew this may be of little significance. A highly skilled boarder in his second season at Niseko, infamous for demonstrating how not to do backflips, and showing a remarkable off spinning action in successful pursuit of the DPT beer pong title. Lives for backcountry, SeicoMart, and teaching unsuspecting Japanese girls suggestive Australian slang. Welcome back jimmy!

Yahiro
Where would we be without 'Ya Chan' ? Although born in the warmer climate of Kyushu and later migrating to Southern California to study English, the freezing temperatures and snow of Niseko have become her rightful dwelling.
As an accomplished boarder with years of experience and a season's involvement with DPT last year, Ya Chan forms an integral link in DPT's chain of operations as interpreper, translator, licenced travel agent, guest services staff mentor and washoku cuisine queen.

Jarrod
Jarrod san, DPT rock star, dead eyed beer pong champion, probable slam dunk exponent, and holder of a Bsc/BA from UNSW. Forming a formidable combination with Jimmy as the airport welcoming crew, providing the inital impression for guests of the DPT organsiation. The style of his boarding only out shone by the gregariousness of his nature, a natural for the role which he occupies.

Craig
Craig started out back in NZ riding sheep but has since graduated on to something more fun and perhaps more fulfilling: skis and snowboards.
He loves Kiwi jokes, especially ones told by Aussies, and has previously done seasons in Canada, New Zealand and France.
'A lover, not a fighter' - As you can tell from the opposite photo Craig is a genuine personality type A: "a hard worker who is often preoccupied with schedules and the speed of his performance".......'nuff said

Lucas
Lucas is DPT's loose canon: a self proclaimed amazing snowboarder who wished he was a skier, and the pivot of "a drinking team that has a snowboarding problem". He posseses the driving skills of Fangio and fulfilles the indispensible role of DPT darts team vice captain. His second season in Niseko and provides the perfect foil for the verbal witicisms of Jake san..........

Jake
Jake "the snake" has a deep and enduring love of the amber fluid, is on first name basis with all local establishment owners, and has been known to single handedly prop up local bars. Over many seasons in Niseko with DPT Jake san has proven himself highly adroit at the double handed wave to hastily retreating guests, outside the box thinking, and as a snowboarder of unparalleled excellence. Often seen shredding his way to local bars, he's still the DPT point man for transfer controversies and K Town pilgrimages. An indefatigable component of the DPT machine.

Hugh
Married just days before his departure for Niseko this season Hugh san is almost as addicted to Niseko's powder as he is to Liza san his new wife. An accomplished skier whose talents on the slopes match his razor sharp, although carefully concealed, wit. Popping up when you least expect it with the perfect line for every situation H san could'nt be better suited to his role as one of DPT's mountain orientation guides. We're fortunate to have him with us this season.

Marissa
Originally in Hokkaido early this season taking a sabbatical from her Science studies in Brisbane but now locked in to a key role in the DPT apparatus Marissa is definitely an early bloomer. Traversing the steepest of learning curves with relative ease it’s now hard to imagine the place without her. As identifiable shredding the slopes with bright green jacket and pants as she is at the front desk in the Niseko Office we're very fortunate fate has drawn her into the DPT family.

Tomo
Our very own pint sized projectile is the all action addition to the DPT stable for this season. Tomo san, jetting in from Anchorage, brings with her an extensive boarding CV spanning ten years, including sojourns to North America, Alaska, New Zealand and Japan. Providing interpreting and translation skills in the Niseko office every bit as sharp as the edges of her snowboard, we’re thrilled to have Tomo san join our crew.

Simon
From Melbourne via the burning sands of the Middle East Si san brings a worldly awareness and boarding knowledge and expertise to his dual roles in guest services and mountain orientation. Well travelled and known to ‘go the extra mile’ both on his snowboard and in ensuring all DPT guests want for nothing during their stay, Simon has made the transition from Camels to Skidoos with ease. Ever reliable and johnny-on-the-spot for all guests requests, Si san is an essential ingredient in the DPT recipe.

Christian
'C san' in his first season with DPT has hit the ground running, representing Sydney's West, he's our braille reader, cancer curer, Royal Flush transcender, cocktail punch guzzler, cobra chomping miracle worker - just the man for guest services! A boarder with much experience, he's DPT's go-to man whenever the impossible is required.
