
Mt Hutt
Mount Hutt has the most reliable snow in New Zealand. With a altitude of 2,086m and an ideal south/east aspect - it provides the conditions to attract snow.
Mt Hutt is a big bowl shaped mountain with steep sidewalls and the famous south face caters for experts. There is also gentle progressive slopes, well groomed main trails and on the middle/lower slopes there are two half pipes and a terrain park. Within a 1½ - 2½ hour drive are some other areas worth visiting, Craigieburn, Mt Cheeseman and in particular; Porters Heights. This region also has some impressive Heli-ski access.
Location
Mount Hutt is located in the middle of New Zealand’s South Island, 91 km from Christchurch, its gateway city. The accommodation centre for Mt Hutt is Methven which is located 24km from the mountain.
Access
Take a coach transfer or self drive rental car from Christchurch to Methven and also to get to and from the ski area each day.
