Hakuba Japan
Hakuba ski resort is located 3 hours by rail west of Tokyo on the mainland of Japan.

One of Japan's largest and most respected alpine resort areas and was host to many of the 1998 Winter Olympic events.

Hakuba's terrain is exceptional for both skiers and boarders boasting some of the steepest mountains in Japan. Due to its abundant snow falls and pristine conditions, Hakuba offers the complete mountain experience with fantastic dry powder and more blue sky days than any other Japanese resort. The usual snow base is over 4m by the end of the season.

Winter activities include skiing, snowboarding, telemark skiing, Nordic skiing, snow rafting and snow mobiling.

Hakuba accommodation
Inclusive in Hakuba accommodation options are a select range of Hotels, Lodges and Pensiones.
The Hotels are very reasonably priced. Locations within the Hakuba Valley include Happo One; an expansive valley of pituresque forest and pine trees, Echoland; which offers a huge selection of bars and restaurants and Wadano village; where Mominoki pub is located and frequented by many westerners.

Onsen are natural thermal springs. This steaming hot natural water is tapped and channelled into large indoor and outdoor bathing pools.
Within Hakuba village there are a variety of Onsens and many Hotels have Onsen located on the premises for guests exclusive use.

Weather
If you want the best snow in the world you need to be prepared - it can get cold. Take plenty of warm clothing and prepare for minus temperatures, thermals are a must, a warm neck gaitor to protect your face and agood pair of double lense goggles. Hakuba can get a lot of snow - its not unusual to get 20cm overnight through the valley. That said there's nothing like fresh powder on a crisp, clear day.

Money
People's initial thoughts are that Japan is expensive and crowded. That may be the case in Tokyo 5 star Hotels but Hakuba is neither. Hakuba is very reasonably priced but you will have to be prepared to carry Yen cash and we strongly suggest to bring some with you. Credit cards are readily accepted. ATM' are located at the local post office and convenience stores for cash withdrawals
