On the Kitanomine side you can ski or snowboard virtually to the door of some bars such as the Ice Dome to order a beer or a hot baked potato without even stepping out of your bindings. With an abundance of restaurants, bars and activities in the Furano township you'll never be short of things to do once you have unbuckled your boots for the evening.

Weather

If you want to experience the best snow in the world, you need to be prepared, as it can get cold. It's not unusual to receive 30cm+ of snow over night in Furano. Take plenty of warm clothing and waterproof outerwear. Thermals are a must, along with warm gloves, and of course, a good pair of double lens goggles is highly recommended.

Money

People's initial thoughts are that Japan is expensive and crowded. That may be the case in the 5 star Tokyo hotels. Furano is very reasonably priced, you will need to carry Yen Cash and we strongly suggest to bring some with you. Credit cards are readily accepted in Furano town through the restaurants and shops but you can't use them on the mountain to buy lunches. Cash is king in Japan and if need be you can access an ATM in Kitanomine at the 7 Eleven or in downtown Furano at the Post Office.
